Today I release my auto hertz switchless region quick solder board mod kits for the Sega 32X.
I have been the only seller of 32X auto region mods since I made the first boarded version of Ikari_01’s auto region code that was released in 2012. There was very little interest in this mod for a long time and it went relatively unknown outside of a few specific modding forums until I brought it to wider attention with my very simple but perfectly formed mod kit released in 2019.
Now I have evolved this design to what I consider its final form.
The 32X auto hertz switchless region mod is now available as a single-wire quick solder board and a no-wire quick solder board.
What does the 32X Auto Hertz mod do?
For those not in the know. This little mod allows the 32X to auto sync its video rate to a Mega Drive. A 60Hz Mega Drive will force the 32X into 60Hz and a 50Hz Mega Drive will force the 32X into 50Hz.
Why is this important?
Because the video rate of the Mega Drive and video rate of the 32X must match for the two to work together. This is extremely useful for getting an import 32X to work with a domestic Mega Drive or getting a 32X to work with a region modded Mega Drive. The 32X region will always match the attached Mega Drive, even when switching regions on the fly.
Installing the Sega 32X Auto Hertz Quick Solder Boards
When designing the no-wire version I got a little feedback and decided to also offer a single-wire version that would allow a bit of choice for the installer, however I really don’t think there was much need. The no-wire version allows the quickest and easiest install and sits perfectly fine with no obstructions or hindrances.
Install just requires cleaning some test points with solder-brain, holding the PCB in position, and then soldering the four points on the PCB. As easy as it gets.
This mod works perfectly with Consoles Unleashed Sega Mega Drive switchless region mods.

I installed the no wire Version in my PAL 32X. First i thougt it wouldnt work cause Virtua Fighter Pal still flickers in 60HZ while switched on the fly. Then i testet Virtua Racing Pal. MD to 50HZ, booting, than switched to 60HZ after the Sega Logo. Before the 32X mod the image has frozen at this moment but now IT WORKS PERFECT. Depends on the Software, if a Game plays right but your Mod is a God:-)
